Fall vaccine planning in Boulder County doesn’t have to be a hassle or take three separate trips. This guide from Manifest Health breaks down what’s recommended for flu, RSV, and COVID this season—and offers simple scheduling tips to help you stay protected without stacking side effects.

When work ramps up, school is back in session, and weekend hikes start moving to lower elevations, vaccine planning can feel like one more thing to juggle. Patients often ask for a clear, low-stress plan that covers flu, RSV, and COVID without stacking side effects or requiring three separate trips. This guide explains what to get, when to get it, and how to combine or space pharmacy appointments so your protection is in place before Boulder County’s respiratory season picks up.

What matters most this fall

  • Flu: For most adults, September and October are the best months to get vaccinated, ensuring protection is active before peak activity. If you miss that window, get the shot as soon as possible, since the flu often circulates well into spring.

  • RSV: RSV vaccination for adults is a one-time dose for those who meet criteria, ideally in late summer or early fall. If you received an RSV vaccine in a prior season, you are considered complete for now.

  • COVID-19: For fall 2025, approvals are narrower than in prior years. As of August 27, 2025, updated vaccines are approved for adults 65 and older and for younger people who have qualifying high-risk conditions. We will confirm your eligibility when we plan your schedule.

If you are unsure whether you qualify for RSV or COVID based on age, medical conditions, or prior infection, we can review your chart and give a clear yes or no before you book.

Who needs which shots

Flu vaccine

Recommended every season for nearly everyone 6 months and older, with rare exceptions. For adults, September or October often strikes a balance between convenience and durability. If travel, caregiving, or peak project weeks get in the way, take the first practical appointment you can find at a nearby pharmacy.

RSV vaccine

CDC recommends one dose for all adults 75 and older, and for adults 50 to 74 who are at increased risk of severe RSV due to conditions such as chronic heart or lung disease, significant immunocompromise, or residence in a nursing home. This is not an annual vaccine at this time. First-time recipients should aim for late summer through early fall

COVID-19 vaccine

For fall 2025, regulators approved updated vaccines, but their use was limited to adults 65 and older and to people under 65 with defined high-risk conditions. If you qualify, we will help you time your dose to coincide with recent infections, travel, and pharmacy availability.

Can you combine vaccines in one pharmacy visit?

Often, yes.

  • Flu and COVID can be given at the same visit if you are due for both. Studies show slightly higher odds of mild reactions like fatigue when given together, but they typically resolve quickly. There is no required waiting period if you prefer to schedule them a week apart. Use separate injection sites to reduce soreness.

  • RSV and flu can also be coadministered. Because RSV vaccines are newer, data are more limited, and some studies note modestly higher local reactions or slight differences in antibody levels when paired. The clinical significance is uncertain. If you are sensitive to side effects, spacing doses by one to two weeks is a reasonable approach.

Side-effect smart moves

Choose different arms for same-day combinations, hydrate well, keep a lighter evening, and plan gentle movement the next day. Most reactions are mild and short-lived.

A simple timing ladder for Lafayette patients

Use this as a flexible template. We will tailor it to your eligibility, schedule, and travel, then book you at the pharmacy or health system you choose.

Step 1: Lock in flu by the end of October.

Aim for a pharmacy appointment in September or October so protection is in place before Colorado’s late-fall uptick. If you have an annual exam or telehealth check-in with us, we will finalize your plan and place any needed documentation in your portal before your appointment.

Step 2: Add RSV if you qualify and have not had it.

If you are 75+ or you are 50 to 74 with qualifying conditions, schedule RSV between August and October. Pair it with your flu visit or space it by a week if you want to track reactions. Remember, RSV is one and done for now.

Step 3: Schedule a COVID-19 if you are eligible this season.

If you qualify under current approvals, you may receive COVID and the flu at the same visit, or separate by a week based on preference. If you recently had COVID, we will personalize timing during your planning call.

Two easy pathways

  • One-and-done at the pharmacy: Book a single visit and receive flu plus either RSV or COVID if you are due. Save the third for a short follow-up appointment.

  • Slow-and-steady:

    • Week 1: Flu

    • Week 2: RSV if eligible

    • Week 3: COVID if eligible

How Manifest Health makes it easy without in-office vaccination

  • Personalized vaccine calendar. We confirm what you need this season, what you do not, and the smartest order to minimize side effects while meeting deadlines.

  • Concierge scheduling with outside sites. We identify pharmacies or health systems near home or work, confirm product availability, and schedule your appointments. If you want to pair two vaccines, we can find a location that can accommodate that in one visit.

  • Telehealth Q&A. Quick, focused virtual visits to answer timing, eligibility, and medication interaction questions so you are not left guessing.

  • Documentation and reminders. We upload your plan to the portal, send appointment reminders, and track completion dates for you.

  • Post-shot check-ins. If you feel unwell or are unsure about a reaction, send a message. We will advise on home care and when to seek an in-person evaluation.

Frequently asked questions

Do you give shots at your Lafayette office?

No. We do not vaccinate in the office. We help you plan, answer questions, and schedule at a pharmacy or health system that is convenient for you.

Can I get all three in one day if I am eligible?

Many pharmacies can administer multiple vaccines during a single appointment. Expect a higher chance of temporary local reactions. If you prefer to space them, a week between shots is a simple approach, and there is no required interval. Use separate injection sites if you combine visits.

What if I have a big presentation or travel coming up?

Avoid stacking vaccines the day before a high-stakes event. Take one per week over two or three weeks. If you need faster protection, book a single visit and plan a quiet evening.

I have a complex medical history. How do I know what is right for me?

Schedule a brief telehealth consult. We will review your chart, medications, and prior reactions, then provide a clear plan and book your appointments with an external site.
